What they are and why they’re an important part of keeping your systems safe

On average, over 8,000 new vulnerabilities are discovered in common software and hardware platforms every year. That’s over 20 every single day.
Most companies don’t have time to keep on top of these, IT managers have a million other things to do, and even well resourced security teams can be kept busy with tracking remediation activity, providing management reports, responding to incidents, providing advice to the business, and all the other work that security teams do.
That’s why Intruder runs Emerging Threat Scans for newly discovered vulnerabilities. When we identify a new vulnerability that could critically affect your systems, we’ll start scanning your targets immediately to ensure you are not vulnerable.
Once the scan is complete you’ll receive a notification by email, according to your notification settings on your settings page (see https://help.intruder.io/portal-help/emerging-threat-notification-controls for how to configure the email notifications).
You also get a notification inside the Intruder portal:
If the Emerging Threat Scan notification has a red lighting bolt icon that means that some of your targets “failed” one or more of the checks. Click on the notification to see more details of what we scanned you for, which targets were affected and a recommendation on how to fix the problem.
If the lighting bolt is green, it means your targets passed all checks of the Emerging Threat Scan. Click on the notification for more information on the checks that were run.
To rescan your targets once you’ve fixed any failures, use the Scan now functionality to kick off a new assessment.
Don’t get caught out by newly discovered vulnerabilities, give yourself the best chance to defend your systems by using Intruder’s Emerging Threat Scans.
Note: Emerging Threat Scan features are currently only available for customers on our Pro and Verified plans.
